Tsawwassen logoLocated 30km south of Vancouver, BC off highways 99 and 17, Sunny Tsawwassen (pronounced "Za wa sen") boasts Canada's finest climate with mild winter temperatures and about half of Vancouver's rain. It has about 20,000 residents, a commercial centre, and its southern border is the 49th parallel - the boundary with the USA.

Part of the Municipality of Delta, with Ladner and North Delta, Tsawwassen has water on both sides. On the western shore is the B.C. Ferries Terminal which provides transport to Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and to the Gulf Islands. Next door is the Robert's Bank Superport complex comprising the West Coast's largest coal terminal and the recently completed Containerport. The eastern shore has the warm waters of Boundary Bay with its beaches, water sports and birdwatching. To the north are agricultural areas and the town of Ladner which predates Vancouver in its founding.

The area abounds with natural beauty with mountain backdrops. The famous Reifel Bird Sanctuary is nearby. Other recreational activities include golf (three courses) parks, sailing, boating, water slides and even go-cart and Formula 440 tracks.

Accommodations include hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and trailer parks.

Very rare, but not unique, our club draws members from neighbouring Point Roberts in Washington and official club meetings are often scheduled "on the Point".

Point Roberts is an exclave. Situated 30 minutes from Vancouver, its only road access to the rest of Washington is a 35km trip through Delta and Surrey BC. A winter population of around 500 swells to several thousand in the summer season. There are beaches, restaurants and a large marina.

The Point offers a safe and beautiful rural life-style with big city amenities at its back door. It is a 4.9 square mile peninsula with the Canadian border as its northern boundary. The border crossing creates a "gated community".

The area is enjoyed by both year-round residents and seasonal home owners from British Columbia, Canada. Although not an island, Point Roberts is often considered one by many, because of the rural atmosphere and ambiance.

The Point is home to one of the finest dredged marinas in the Pacific Northwest and the local waters are a favourite for both the commercial salmon fleet and sports fishers. Summer months lure sunbathers to the beaches, bicyclers, joggers, and big city dwellers escaping for a country drive.

Point Roberts has its July 4th celebrations and the Tsawwassen Sun Festival is the first week in August.
